Dear Network,
Harold Camping of Family Radio is predicting the "end of the world" for May 21, 2011. This is not the first time he has made such predictions and it may not be the last time either.
Almost everyone is, from time to time, obsessed with what is going to happen in the future. Every place in the Bible that it talks about the "end of the world" the original Greek is specifically saying the "end of an age", not the planet. I hope that is not a disappointment to any of you. With the end of every age there is a beginning of another age.
There is possibly no single book of the Bible I am asked about more than Revelations.
Why? The reason is probably because most people are looking for an edge. I will give you that edge if you can receive it.
First, I would like to go on record and say that the world will not end on May 21, 2011. I don't know what day the world will end any more than I know what day I or you might die. It really does not matter and shouldn't. What would you do today if you knew tomorrow was going to be the "end of the world". An earlier American farmer was asked that same question as he plowed his field for spring planting. His response was, “I would finish plowing this field."
The kingdom of God is in the moment and Christ said to worry not about tomorrow but "to seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness".
That does not mean you do not need to have some insight about the future but that you should not worry or be afraid.
Isaiah 57:1 told us:
"The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth [it] to heart: and merciful men [are] taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil [to come]."
Is evil coming? Most certainly it is but good is here as well. The question is who is our ally, who is our brother, who do we have faith in and do we serve Him and one another in righteousness. Do we read and study the Bible to know and do the will of our Father or to get some leverage against God's anticipated wrath and or things to come.
The truth is if we love the Lord we will be guided in understanding not driven by fear or doubt. We will see the evil and be prepared for it.
The kingdom is not a dominion of fear but of faith. It is not a realm of helplessness but hopefulness.
What we should be concerned with every day is that search for righteousness and the willingness to tend to the "weightier matters" rather than the imagined terrors of the the “world”. If we did that we would be better prepared no matter what is going to happen in this world or the next.
Bad things will happen, disaster will come, as it always has. If we are striving for the narrow path we will find our way through the tight spots and find rest in the hardest times whenever and in what ever way they may come. The economy, the systems and benefits of government, and so many things seem to be going wrong. We could see disaster or potential disaster around every corner if we let our imagination rule us.
How do we know where the real danger is and what to do about it?
Besides my interest in the Bible, Law, History and the will of God I have studied the Sun and seen its significant relationship to the earth for over half a century. It not only drives the weather but fuels the internal engine of this and the other planets of the solar system. As a part of a world wide network, over the years we have seen not only weatherabove the earth and geological activity in the earth directly stimulated by the sun's vast output but we have seen storms and hurricanes on Mars and the other planets. Seismic activity is also directly related to solar activity.
One of the most insightful stories recently appeared June 14, 2010 in the UK's The Daily Telegraph. Dr Richard Fisher, the director of Nasa's Heliophysics division stated:
“We know it is coming but we don’t know how bad it is going to be...” “It will disrupt communication devices such as satellites and car navigations, air travel, the banking system, our computers, everything that is electronic. It will cause major problems for the world.”
“Large areas will be without electricity power and to repair that damage will be hard as that takes time.”
What few people know is that the generators we depend upon every day can be fused during these solar storms and that they are no longer “Made in America”, nor are they stock piled. There was a technician, who is now a ministers on our own Living Network, that has seen the grid go down under the pressure of these events.I have seen this happen all over the globe during the last few decades. But the truth is we have been lucky considering the potential danger.
Dr Fisher went on to warn that:
“Systems will just not work.1
"It is not surprising to Electric universe proponents that conditions on the Sun are governed by interconnected magnetic fields, and, by extension, electric currents."2
Jesus said to look for signs in the sun and the moon and the stars. Are we seeing those signs? The truth is these things have happened before and they will happen again. The difference is our dependence on these electronic systems but they are not the only systems we have become dependent upon.
Jesus also said that we should be in the world but not of it. If we were less a part of the world when "major problems for the world.” occurs we would be less affected by those problems and failed systems.
One of those systems is the Internet but it will not be alone. The early Church formed a network of people who cared about each other as much as themselves. We are constructing a Living Network3 and connecting the individuals and communities across the country with the same Spirit taught by Christ and that early uncorrupted Church. We are seeking to prepare people for what could be doomsday if we will not seek the kingdom of God and His ways of righteousness. We are not doing this because we are afraid. We are not doing this because we are survivalists. We are doing it because we love our neighbor as much as we love ourselves.
What and how that network is formed and maintained is one the best kept secrets of history. We have people learning and practicing what has been banned from the educational systems of the world. We will be traveling around the country this early spring to link that Living Network, helping people learn again to help themselves in viable communities like the early Christians. We will notify and share information with those who are on the network4 but those who are well connected in the Living Network will have a decided advantage because they too will be connected with people who care about one another and are working daily in a living temple of practical and tuff love.
It is tuff love because it is about telling the whole truth. It is practical because it is concerned about others, their rights and the weightier matters of law, judgment, mercy and faith.
